A charitable foundation as sole owner

Friedrich Bluhme Jebsen had looked ahead to the time after his death. The work of his lifetime lives on in the foundation named after him. The Friedrich Bluhme and Else Jebsen Foundation is based in Lübeck. The foundation´s aim is to advocate charitable and cultural causes in the region of Lübeck. The foundation´s funds are mainly comprised of its stake in Lübecker Marzipan-Fabrik v. Minden & Bruhns GmbH & Co. KG.

Important financial commitments were made for the preservation of Villa Jebsen, the former home of Friedrich Bluhme and his wife. The mansion was assigned to the municipality of Stockelsdorf and has become the cultural centre of the town. The foundation provided the City of Lübeck with the financial means to secure an important collection of silverware. It has taken over the costs for the renovation of the Neptune statue on Lübeck´s Puppenbrücke and of the statue of the Virgin Mary in the Holstentor, the city´s landmark. For many years, the foundation has focused on the financial support of the children´s hospital at the Universitätsklinikum in Lübeck, supporting both defined research projects and therapy devices. Churches, schools and clubs in and around Lübeck and Stockelsdorf were able to realise projects with financial support granted by the foundation.

The Friedrich Bluhme and Else Jebsen Foundation played and still plays an important role in the development of Lübecker Marzipan-Fabrik v. Minden & Bruhns. In accordance with the founder´s last will, to secure the company´s independence, it enabled the company to build a solid financial basis as a precondition for continued growth.
